Personality: Darren is friendly, but not extremely talkative. He is outgoing and bold, but that is only when he's with people that he knows, he also tries to be as kind as possible, perhaps thats him trying to atone for the things he used to do. If he's with someone like his lawyer or an officer or someone like that, he can often seem like a smart mouthed jackass.
Of course being friendly is only when he isn't fighting or doing something competitive. When he is competing in something he is very competitive and gives everything his all. When he looses at something he can often go into a depression, but a while alone can usually help him out of that sort of funk.
Darren can normally be found smiling or grinning, and can continue smiling and doing so while his anger smolders underneath him, of course sooner or later he'll burst, and when he does it comes out violently. Darren is rather prideful and so he doesn't back down from many challenges.
Appearance: Darren is handsome and has a nice smile, he has two scars on his left side, cigarette burns. His normal dress consist of jeans and T-shirts. If it's cold outside he wears a black hoody, he gives little care for his dress.
Hair Color: Black
Eye color: Green
Body type: He has a medium build with well defined muscles on his chest arms and legs.
Weight: 170 Ilbs
Height: 6'1"
History:
What the hell happened?
Darren used to be the nicest kid in the neighborhood. Only doing the right things, and making sure that while doing the right things, he did them as best he could. He made excellent grades, he was good at sports, he had a lot of friends, and he could make anyone smile.
So what made him become so bad?
His name was Brian Race. He was Darren's older brother, 4 years older to be exact. He got drunk, smoke, fought, and usually came home late and bleeding. Darren would always be the one that woke up and let him in.
Brian never did the things a brother should do. He never stood behind Darren, he never helped Darren, he never stopped people from picking on Darren, he never said a kind thing to him. If Darren didn't do what he said, his brother struck him. If he told his parents, his brother hit him again.
When Darren was 13 the phone rang, he couldn't find the phone so he walked into Brian's room to see if he had the phone. When he opened the door he found Brian was holding a bong, Darren was old enough to know what it was for. When Brian noticed him he chased after him, Darren ran out of the house, but was still chased by Brian.
They ran all around the neighborhood, and out of it, Brian was just as scared as Darren. As they ran, they entered a different neighborhood. As Darren ran he heard a sharp whistle coming from the car in front of them. The front window rolled open and a pistol pointed out of it, aiming for Darren. Darren could see in the window and one of the people in the back was shouting something and pointing at Brian. They shot twice, the first bullet hit Darren, the second hit Brian, and the car kept on going. Darren was hit in his shoulder, but not badly, Brian had been shot in his chest. Darren crawled to Brian, who was on the floor bleeding. When he got to his brother, his brother looked to him, blood dripping from his mouth he spoke.
"I'm... sorry, Dar..."
His voice faded, he wasn't able to finish the sentence as he died.
After that things went badly. It turned out that the people that shot them where drug dealers that Brian had stolen from, so they shot them both. Darren never quite healed emotionally from that, he became much more violent, fighting everyone that bothered him, and even people that didn't. He stole, and drank, and beat up people twice his size.
When Darren turned 15 he met someone who changed the course of his life. His name was Nathaniel. Darren was being kept in detention and the man had approached him, he was some sort of shrink hired by his parents. They said he specialized in people like Darren, but Darren didn't care what kind of shrink he was, he was still a shrink.
The man spoke about healing instead of punishing. When Darren slashed out his teacher's tires. Nathaniel had him pay for them and put them onto the car, and clean his wheels, every day for a month, instead of detention or a fine. Darren didn't buy this 'healing' crap for a second. In fact it wasn't until he did something really stupid that he started listening.
The men that had shot Brian and Darren had been taken to jail later for a completely different crime, and had been kept in jail for two years. Though he didn't say it, Darren knew the second he saw them, that they where the killers. They knew he was alive, and they soon began to follow him around, stalking him. Darren bought a switch blade. One day when he saw them following him, he took a steep left into an alley way. When they walked past he came from behind them and began to attack them. They had him on the ground in seconds, they took the knife from him. Darren got up and began to run. They threw the knife.
Thud
Nathaniel had been following Darren too, when he saw what was happening, he shoved Darren out of the way and took the knife to the back. After that Three gunshots rang out.
Nathaniel knew it would get nasty, he called police, they'd been with him, just behind him, they shot all three of the men. Nathaniel didn't die, but he went into a coma. The knife had hit his spine, and it effected his brain. Darren knew that he wouldn't be punished, but the outcome of what would happen was unclear.
Darren didn't understand, in his life two people had been hurt, and one died to protect him. Why? One never cared for him, and he never cared for the other one. Understanding came to Darren. People did that because they cared for him, they had nothing to gain from it, they just thought it right. Darren made a decision. He wouldn't take these two acts of kindness lightly, he would do everything in his power to help heal Nathaniel. Nathaniel once told him 'if you cant help one person, help everyone else'. Darren couldn't help Nathaniel. Only time could do that. But he could try to help others.
What the hell happened?
Suddenly Darren became a sweet kid again, being kind and thoughtful, only letting his anger show every now and then. It wasn't a drastic change outwardly, but inwardly. While he tried his best to act like he was still rotten to the core, he did subtle things, or worked in secret, to help people. It was obvious to tell he'd changed.
The charge finally came. He was being sent to Crescent Hill Academy. It was like a reform school they said. Darren gave no argument. He knew that when he went to this school, not only would he help to heal others, but maybe he could find a way to heal himself.
Hopes/Goals:
-He hopes Nathaniel will come out of his coma.
-He hopes to find inner peace for his guilt.
-to heal
-to get it through a semester without failing a class
-to get a girlfriend
