It was a nice sunny saturday in New York City and most would be happy. Except for Asphodel Monroe. She had just gotten back from the hospital and another round of chemo. She had forgotten how maany times she had done it in her life time but lately it was starting to ware her out since her Lymphoma had become terminal and spread threw out her body. It made her often weak and she had to be really careful not to hurt her self, then there were the side effects of the chemo that she has to deal with while still going to all her classes and attempting to get good grades but it was starting to become really hard and really stressful on her because she didnt know if she could do it all. Sure she wasent alone because she had Seth who was an amazing boy friend yet she couldnt help and feel so empty. She was starting to loose all of her hopes and her dreams, they were all going down the drain with every passing day and she was starting to give up on life. Her doctors said she needed to hold on to everything she had to help her threw this beut she was just giving up.
She sighed as she slipped on some black skinny jeans, converse and a cute top and ran a hand threw her straight brown hair. Grabbing her guitar and the case off the bed she glanced around her perfectly clean room and walked out side and around the building. She walked towards a little wooded area not to far from the school that was surrounded by trees and she sat against one tugging out her guitar and taking out a small zip-lock bag that had some pre wrolled blunts in it. She laid her guitar on the case and placed one of the blunts in her mouth and lit it. She took a long drag as she ran a hand threw her hair again. She knew that in just a few more rounds of chemo it would be gone, which she was going to hate seriously. She held it between her fingers and blew the smoke out into the air and coughed a little as she pulled her knees to her chest and took a few more puffs waiting for it to calm her and send her into a nice relaxing state. Her hands shook a little as she continued puffing from it taking deep breaths in. She couldnt believe something so calming could be so illeagle. Especialy for some one that was just 16. But she couldnt help it, it helped with the chemo side effects.

His mind was wondering, and he needed to go out and find out what he needed to dowith a few of his students. They were here because they needed him, and he was ahppy to help but he needed to sort out what he was going to say to them directly. He had a knack for things like this, but sometimes they took time. Was he walked down outside he breathed in the air and smelt pot. It was something he was used to, so it didn't really phase, until he realized that this was a school of students who come from various backgrounds, and he was aware that it was illegal. Maybe he could find the kid who was doing the crap and help her or him with the facts they face. One good thing about Vincent, was that he was a very trustable person. He acted like one of the kids, though he took his job seriously.
As he walked the scent got stronger and he was lead to a small hole of trees. Peering in he saw this girl with a guitar case next to her, and a joint. He smiled softly and looked at her. Of course she would know that he was a staff member, but at the sametime, she might not know how lenient he was on these subjects. He was all about helping, not criticizing. Setting down his notebook he kneeled across from her. His lips curling up his cheeks and his eyes gentle. "How goes it?"

Asphodel was totally starting to space out as she felt the pot set her into that familuar calm feeling and she rested her forhead against her knees as she closed her eyes trying to relax a little. She was pretty tired most of the time and pot usualy just added to that which is usualy why she went to sleep after she smoked a lot, or at least enough to have her sleeping for a while. She liked the fact it made her hungry because since she threw up alot she needed all the help eating that she could get. Its not like she wanted to, she just couldnt really help it. Sighing she rocked her self back and forth as she finished the joint and smushed it out on the floor. She kept her eyes closed as she reached foward and grabbed another one and placed it between her lips. She kept her eyes closed and lifted her head enought to light it and once she did she opened her eyes and jumped about a foot in the air when she saw some one sitting infront of her. Not just a some one but a teacher.
She looked down at the joint in her hand and was wondering why he wasent yelling at her or anything. She simply placed it back to her sparkly lips and blew it out away from him. Looking down at her shaky hands she looked back up at him and shrugged a little bit. "Better now.." She took another quick puff and blew it out holding her knees closer to her chest after she tugged her sweat shirt on and gulped a little bit. "How are you?" She didnt exactly know who he was, just that he was a teacher and plus she did tend to talk and ramble some times when she was high and she was starting to near that fun little stage. She took it from between her lips and put it out on her hand and winced a lit but put it back in the bag and she put the bag back in her guitar case. "sorry...Why arent you yelling at me?" Most teachers would be pissed right now if they saw a 16 year old smoking pot. Then again if you smelt the air she probably wasent the only one doing it.

She looked startled as he just sat there and wasn't yelling at her, he wasn't the type to judge, and in his postion you really couldn't. It was those, position requirements. She began to question him and he just smiled. He didn't offer her his name he just smiled. Smooth, he thought about anything and everything. She was shaking and a little scared, but he didn't mind. Sitting down cross legged he just shook his head. "It's one of those things I don't mind, it helped me through school. So it wouldn't be right for me to yell at you."
Though he understood why most kids did pot, he didn't understand yet, what drove her to resort to it. Like he resorted back to his training he smiled. "So what drove you to do such? I mean, everyone has a different reason." At that moment he didn't want to offened her, but he wanted her to understand that she could trust him. "Oh I apologize." He lowered his head a little, afterall this was a boarding school, and these kids were usually here on displine actions. "I'm Vincent Mortelle, I'm the Marine Bio Educator also the school counselor."
He stiffened a little, he didn't know if that was going to make a difference in any sort. He was here to lean on, also he was here for their support. "Don't worry, I'm not going to tell a soul of our encounter."

Ash simply looked up at him as he started to speak and she glanced to the side a little bit in thought. Most people smoked it just to have fun and there were lots of reasons for people tos moke it but her reason was diffrent from most peoples. She didnt really like to talk about it, mostly because no one knew that she smoked pot, no one really knew anything about her. The only person that knew every thing about her was Seth and he was the only person she trusted with anything, he was her best friend and more importantly he was the one that was currently keeping her heart in a protective glass case with no intention of crushing it.
She bit her lip a bit harder and looked down at the burn that had been previously put into her hand. "It helps with the chemo...well it helps the effects of the chemo..." She nodded a little bit after she said that and ran a hand lightly threw her hair. She always felt so pathetic saying that because in her head it sounded so fake and so over dramatic but she couldnt help it. It was either chemo or radiation so she chose chemo since when she was little the radiation never worked. "I have cancer...well obviously. People dont just do chemo for fun." She laughed a little as she unravled from her little ball and sat cross legged just like he was. She was starting to lighten up more and more as she drug set into her body.
When he said his name she raised an eye brow to her self lightly and couldnt help but roll her eyes some when he also said he was the school counselor. Ever since her parents died she had been to more counselors therapists and doctors then she could count but she had a feeling this one was diffrent. "Im Asphodel.." Ash never really used her last name, which was Monroe because she never knew if people had her down with her real last name or her adoptive last name. Shrugging when he said he wouldnt tell any one she just tugged the bag back from her guitar case and looked at the many joints that lay within. She could admit she had become slightly addicted to it but she still didnt really care. "The only person I dont want to find out is my boy friend. Hed probably be dissapointed in me..." She sighed and frowned a but as she tugged the bag of joints from her guitar case and looked down at it. Everything in the bag was so promising.

As she spoke he understood more clearly, sometimes people who have cancer use mary-j to help sooth side affects. It's only logical. He thought it took some of the emotional pain out of it as well, but he was never really certain. He wiped the palms of his hands on his knees and just listened on. "I'm pretty sure I wouldn't do chemo for fun, so I'm quite positive on not doing such." Making sure he understood here he looked into her eyes, as they didn't make contact but he had to get a feel for her, a sense of her surroundings, also a sense of her past, and her pain. It was just how he worked. Thinking on that note, he worked with the patient, doing what they thought was right, and if he saw a flaw in their problem solving he would help them understand what would be a better approach.
"Don't worry about it, I might have a discussion with the headmistress' but I won't mention names. I want them to realize that there are some people at this school who do the certain things they do for better reasons, then just doing them to impress people, or make their images better." He didn't like the way she worked with the students, he felt the head of the school had a little two much power behind them, yes it was a good school to attend to help people get out of the rut, but also, from a feeling of just watching these poor kids, they needed something more in their lives. Kind of like an adult figure to look up to, and help guide them, which is something that they were lacking before he came here.
Stretching out his back, as he sat up straight. "Believe me, no one is going to find out, not even your boyfriend." Putting his hand back into his lap he sat in silence for a minute. "I'll let you know, that I was once addicted to that," he said pointing, "and also that crap that really messes you up, I'm in rehab for it now, and it was a requirement in order for me to be here." He didn't really talk about it, so he left it at that, he would let these kids know his story when they wanted to, but he was here to listen to theirs.
