The door opened with the small ding of a bell, but no, it wasn't the person he was looking for. He sighed, leaning against the wall as he waited for Bella to get there. The note was still in his pocket, and he had sent her a text message the moment gym had finished, but she wasn't there yet. But, he could deal with it. Or, he could deal with it better if there weren't two people kissing each other like they were about to do something that really shouldn't be done in public. He sighed, averting his eyes from the two, and looked at his watch. Lunch lasted for another 55 minutes back at school, and it wasn't his problem if he was that late. Besides, he could always fake an injury and get out of class - better yet, he could actually get an injury and then get out of class for most of the week. Genius plan, except for the fact that that would mean he'd have a load of homework once he got back. But if Bella didn't come, then he'd wasted an hour waiting in a pizzeria in the middle of Brooklyn. And that was not a good hour to waste. He sighed again, wishing Bella would get there already, and that those two behind him would stop kissing or die from lack of air. Either would boost his happiness a bit though.

The afternoon was still at the begining when Bella left the school. She'd promised to meet Kyle for lunch at the pizzaria down in Brooklyn Heights. She was kind of excited to be making friends. Ezpecially ones with such similar outlooks. She thought they were in agreance on the subject of Gym. It was lame and they could have done without it. But gym class was over now and Bella had better things to think about. Like the crappy weather. She'd have to change...Just a t-shirt wasn't going to cut it. So she'd taken a few minutes off her last class for the morning to go put on a sweater and her thicker trainers. The walk wasn't so bad. It was cold and there were christmas shopers everywhere. Couples included. Gross. Those sickly happy couples holding hands and peeking their inseperable faces in the shope windows. Winter holidays sucked. The good news was, Kyle hadn't texted back to cancel. That was her small glimmer of hope. That she actually had made a lunch date with someone, and then was acctually going through with it. Opening the door it jingled. She had half a mind to look up and glare at the little bell. Did she seriously need everyone looking up to see that she was there finally? She didn't think so. But one face she was looking forward to seeing. There he was. She forced her chilly cheeks back to form a smile and waved at Kyle, but the smile turned quickly to a look of annoyed discust. Did people honestly have to do that in public? Bella shuddered at the snogging couple behind Kyle and then took her seat across from him. "Hope I didn't keep you waiting."

He looked up as the bell tingled again, and this time, it was Bella. He smiled slightly, then saw her look at the couple behind him, and her look of disgust. And as she walked over, he could just hear the man seem to start sucking on her. He sighed as Bella sat down, but then straightened his mood again. "No problem if you did." He said, then glanced at the couple. The dude was running his hand through her hair. "Excuse me for a second." He said quietly, then slammed his fist on the table. The two broke apart, startled, and left as Kyle glared at them. The waiter was coming over already. "What do you want?" He asked Bella as the guy approached. He hadn't really given it much thought, and anything she wanted was fine with him. Unless it was pineapple. That was the worst fruit in the world in his mind, and even worse on pizza.

She was about to smile and say something witty but something happened to intrude her ears and she lost her train of thought. Sucking?? Honestly? This was a pizza place! What in the world did that say but sick imature lust? For the love of God, people could be so tasteless. That was why she was horridly glad when Kyle made them leave. What a handy talent! Bella gave him a polite grin and turned her attention soon to the attendant. "Honestly, Cheese is fine for me, if that's okay with you? I'm not so kean on toppings. Mostly Pepperoni and olives." She let out a shudder as if she'd put something slightly foul in her mouth. She was no longer talking to the waiter, just to Kyle. Hell, she was having lunch with him not the serving staff! It was rude to make eyes at your waiter infront of the person across the table. Except.. their server really wasn't attractive at all.

He nodded at what she said. "Cheese is fine." He said, then looked over at the waiter. "Hmm...four-piece cheese pizza, and two cokes?" He asked, and the waiter nodded, recorded their order, and walked away. He looked out the window and the couple was across the street, in an alley, continuing their heated game of tonsil hockey. Gross. He looked back at Bella then. "How was the rest of your day after gym?" He asked.

Bella smiled and tried to conceal the fact that she'd had nothing short of a mental break down on Mr. Turner after school. "Well...It was...Lame." She averted her eyes quickly trying to hide the pained expression in them. Damn emotions. They always seeped right out her lids and poured all over the damn situation. "I saw Mr. Turner again in the park. Good News was I did get a few good pictures taken." She motioned effortlessly to her bag which contained her camera. She'd actually taken quite a few good pictures of the skaters that had been there. All of which had lightly reminded her of the boy across the table. Bella was unskillfully dancing around the subject of her emotional out poor. But if he ever stopped to look at her, she knew he'd see right through her facade.

Mr. Turner. The man who he currently hated, besides every damned popular and prep in the school. "Guessing he was nothing short of a bad ass to you then?" He asked, smiling lightly. "Don't let the gym teacher get you down. Especially if you hate them. My motto is to always have the last laugh, and that's what happens when the teachers put me in a detention with the supervisor who's always asleep and a chance to leave it ourselves." His mind flickered to the concert had had sneaked out to a few days previous.

She smiled. It was nice of him to try consoling her and a lot of it would have been really good advice, if her problems hadn't been internal. "Well, he started out sort of Mr. Turner typical.. but...I dunno..We talked about some things and well.. Turns out if you turn on the water works and your sob stories he just can't stay mean." A sheepish and slightly embarassed smile flashed across her face, but she quickly erased it. That was out of character for her. She didn't need her reputation flying off the handle. Enough people hated her already. "Any way..." She badly wanted to change the subject but had little to say after such an awkward statement. Damnit

He smiled, having frankly no clue about what she was talking about. Well, sort of. He couldn't really imagine a nice Mr. Turner - nice other teachers, perhaps, but definitely not Mr. Turner. It just seemed to him that all gym teachers were mean and sour and bent on torturing young souls. And then she trailed off, leaving him with the spot to think of something to talk about no doubt. Great. That was one of his worst abilities, thinking of topics, especially when he was ticked off, and he was because Mr. and Mrs. Scar for Life had just re-entered and resumed their kissing about ten tables away. Pushing them out of his mind, he opened his mouth, a topic coming out finally. "You play any instruments?" He asked.

Oh thank- Nope never mind. The spit swappers were back. But, on the bright side, Kyle had successfully changed the subject. Yes.. thank God indeed! But it was a weird subject. "Well.." She looked around. Okay.. no one from school was there. Not that she was ashamed, just that with some people she would have preferred to keep up her horrible Bad Ass reputation. She leaned in "It's sort of a secret. But, When I was little, Grandpa McKensie taught me how to play Piano. Mostly church hymns, but I can read music and such, so I'm sure I can still play casually." A friendly smile came to her as she tugged at her scarf finally, "So, what about you? You seemed pretty against Mr. Turner making me give up my iPod, What's the deal? You got a secret love affair with music or something?"

He had nothing against her for playing piano - hell, you wouldn't expect it from a girl like her, sure - but it was a musical instrument. And music was almost as important to him as skating was. Laughing a bit at her comment, he leaned back a bit in his chair. "Yeah, of course." He said. "Guitar. Specifically, an electric guitar. Never played in a band, but I'm hoping to start one here with some people who actually know what singing and playing is." His thoughts waded over to some of the people he knew from this school that had could sing good but sang that crap that was pop. Please, pop was about as good as big band. Rock was the only way to play.

Oh, so it was an affair with music. She could handle that. It wasn't that Kyle was someone she "Liked then went for." or "Had her eye on" even. She was someone she respected as a friend and a creative individual. Though she'd never thought of them like that considering they'd only known each other for a matter of hours, somewhere subconsciously, she would mind the thought of them. However that was not the point. He was in love with music, and she was not about to but in, especially if he had no problem with her sharing that passion. "Well, Why don't you sing? Or are you something close to William Hung? I mean, if you sang well, I may just have to choose to pick fights in your audiances, rather than someone elses. You know.. for good fight music." She gave him a smile. Translated from Bella into Girl, that was, "Well, if you sing half as good as you look, And nothing like William Hung, I'll have to check you out sometime...Maybe see you after?" But Bella was not that forward. NEVER. Ew!! Blond!!! Yack!! Elizabeth!!!!

He smirked. "I don't sing. At all." He said simply, watching as their drinks arrived. He took a sip out of his, then continued talking. "My ability at guitar has sort of shunned out the ability to sing. And I can't exactly afford singing lessons anyways. I'm fine with just being able to rock on the guitar." He smiled a bit and took another drink.

As the coke arived, Bella smiled as Kyle spoke. So he didn't sing. Big deal. "Hey don't look at me. I don't give lessons. Nor do I sing for bands. The most singing I do or did, is in the shower and in the church chorus back in Oklahoma. And honestly... that's not band material if you ask me. Uless you're making a christmas CD. In which case..." she gave him a very sarcastic whink. "I'm you're go to girl." Giving him a little laugh she played with the straw of her soda. Her mind was now sucessfully off the bad stuff and cracking jokes just like the normal Bella. Kyle = 10 extra brownie points.

He laughed at her comment, then took another drink out of his coke. Bella was a bit more of an interesting girl than he originally had thought she was. The phrase of "Never judge a book by its cover" rang in his head, but he ignored that. He didn't need advice from his 1st grade teacher at this point in time. He placed his arms on the table (Another bit of ignored advice rang in his head), and started talking again. "Well OK then." He said, smiling a bit. "But still on the subject of music, which bands do you like?"

Touchet Kyle... touchet, That was a tough question to answer. Mostly because the answer was so obvious. However scads of people gave the same one, and what whould make her different from all of them? "Basically all of them. Everything from...The Carpenters, to Avenged Sevenfold, to Colbie Caillat, to Hell even Mozart. However, I don't care for Rap or much Country.. ick." Bella rested her elbows on the table as she sipped off her soda. "So what about you? Is it an affair with music in general or is it specific bands?" She smiled her straw cutely tucked between her white straight teeth.

Ah, now those were some good bands, and artists, from what he had heard. He took another drink from his coke before answering her question. "Anything rock, or rock-based basically." He said. "Alternative, rockabilly, classic rock, screamo, all those I'll listen to. Mainly my iPod's playing MCR or ACDC, but I'll listen to others. Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seger, Nickelback, The Beatles..." He smiled, then took another sip out of his drink. "Anything else though, rap, hip-hop, country, bluegrass, I won't listen to."

Bella smiled and held back a laugh. "Oh thank God you have good taste. Good taste in music reflects good taste in other things. And if you're having lunch with me, I must not be all that bad. And see.. you can even twist it the other way, I've got good music taste, and here you are." Well that sounded stupid. Nice one Bella. Way to hale in a verbal dork taxi. Suddenly, Bella decided to take to looking out for their pizza.

After hearing what she said, he laughed. "In honesty, after spending about half an hour with you, you've already convinced me you're better than some of the preps I've seen in the school." He said, smiling as their pizza arrived. He leaned back in his chair (Nope, not listening to the little voice in his head) and took a piece as the waiter set it down, placing it on one of the plates that were with the tray the pizza was on. He took another sip of the coke, then continued the conversation. "Like that Elizabeth girl. She reeks of preppiness."

Bella perked up and smiled. "Why thank you. And yes.. yes she does. That girl...ug, you can smell her and her preppiness from a mile away." in a mockery, Bella sniffed the air. "Ah.. We're safe. She's still on CHA campus." Laughing she picked up a piece of pizza and nibbled on it. "Anyway, enough about her, lets here more about you." Yes, turn the attention to him. how selfless. and yet an entertaining topic of discussion.

He laughed along with her, then took another bite out of his slice. He sipped from his drink, then listened to Bella again. Well, he had expected this to come, but he didn't expect it this soon. "OK then, just tell me when you get bored." He said, smirking slightly. "I'm fifteen, obviously, and I'm from Holland, Michigan. No Dutch relationship, though." He added. "My parents used to be basically dirt poor, and never had time for me. Now they won the lottery, and I'm here, while my family lives the good life." He paused to take a drink, then continued.
"I've been skateboarding for about 12 years now, take or leave a couple of years. I've played guitar for about 7 of those years, and I've also done BMX for a few years. I hate New York City with a passion. And I've been in trouble in the past...nothing big like drugs or smoking, or drinking for that matter, but I have gotten in trouble for being in a gang and stuff, like skipping school and graffiti." He finished. "Condensed version of my life story I guess. You asleep yet?"

She listened attentively as he spoke. His life wasn't boring. He had his story just like the rest of them. Surely she could find more things to sob over in her own life, but that made no difference, she had seen Hell.. Well, Hell's Kitchen at least. "No deffinately not sleeping. You're voice is too appealing for me to doze off. You'd have to speek like that clear eyes guy for me to fall asleep while you talk." Laughing she continued to eat. Really she was pacing herself. Had she just been here with Charlie, she'd be inhailing the entire pizza before C could even smell it properly. Bella, in the past, had been notorious for tanking back a pizza or two at a night over with her besty.
"Hey maybe with all your athletic abilities, though be it not the stereo typical jock abilities, perhaps I'll see you out at the skate park or something? I'm always there." From her bag she pulled a very expensive looking cammera. "The skaters are really good subjects." A self conscious smile came to her face, but she erased it quickly. Putting her cammera away she tried her hardest to ignore his comment about trouble.
"A gang huh? Nothing to serious I hope." She smirked and tried to sound as sarcastic as possible. "Gee hope you never killed anyone." Though that said, was not so true in her book. And she wasn't in a gang. Or the ever so neighborly popular moffia.

He smiled slightly at what she said after his little story. It was nice to know that somebody at least didn't think he was the most dull person on Earth - though that position was easily taken by the History teacher at his old school. "Great to know." He said, finishing off his first slice of pizza. He took another small sip from his coke, not wanting too look like a pig in front of Bella.
"Cool. As soon as the snow clears up, I'll be there." He said. "I always hated when snow came, it's not exactly a smart idea to go on a skateboard through snow and ice." He still couldn't believe he had attempted that when he was seven - obviously, that hadn't exactly turned out too good. "Basically I just snowboard off Quaker Hill instead. Not exactly much fun, but it takes up time at least."
He smirked a bit - the sarcasm in her voice wasn't that hard to find out. "Nope, just the stuff I said earlier." He said. "And no, I've never killed anyone. If I had, I would be in juvie right now, wouldn't I?" He laughed a bit, taking another sip of his drink, waiting for Bella's response.

She let out a nervous laugh. "Not necessarily." She was all too obviously speeking from her own horrible past experiances. Looking away she continued not to make eye contact with him. It was clearly a sore subject. She should not have brought it up in the first place. Looking back up at him she forced a smile and blinked away the glassy look she knew sat in her eyes. Now that the momories were resurfacing she was going to have a hard time sleeping it off. Infact she was possitive she would have nightmares again.
"Sorry, Kyle, but can we change the subject?" She turned back to her pizza and resumed her devourment of the innocent slice. Hoping he had any decency, he would just forget it and change the subject quickly in the other direction. But on the other hand, she also hoped he had compassion, in which case he would ask her about it and show that he cared. What was she thinking? He was a boy, he'd only take into consideration her words. Though she knew... not all boys were body language illiterate.

He immediately noticed Bella looking away; obviously, he had done or said something he shouldn't have said. Why was it so hard for men to please woman? Unless of course she had something in her eye and didn't want him to see her getting it out. Or if she had something in her teeth. But that seemed pretty much not what had happened when she looked back, a slight glassy look in her eyes. But then again, he wasn't exactly sure on that either, as she had gotten rid of it so fast that he could barley remember if it was there or not.
"Uh, sure." He said in response to her next question. Feeling a bit sheepish for having said something that he probably shouldn't have said, he sat in silence for a few moments, thinking things over and trying to think of something that wouldn't piss her off or the likes. A topic came to him again, but he wasn't sure it would work, so he took another drink from his pop, hoping that when he finished he'd be able to say the topic, and then just hope for the best. "So, um, you're friends with Charlie Paige, right?" He asked, still a bit uncertain.
