Her face brightened quickly and she bounced back to the norm. Swallowing her bite of food she smiled. "Charlie? Are you kidding me? We're practically inseperable. You know they didn't put B next to C in the alphabet for nothing." Bella grinned. Talking about Charlie made things a lot better. She'd seen everything Bella'd gone through.
She sipped her soda happily seeming to have gone completly round. Though on the inside it still hurt a good bit. "So, what? Don't you have like a BFF? Er... a bro or what ever it is guys call them?"

Oh hallelujah. He said something right. That was a point for him at least. Just keep going like this, and hopefully he'd get out of her alive and un-embarrassed. 25 minutes to go. He could survive that. At least he hoped. He took another sip from his drink (Which by this time was almost gone), and took another slice of pizza.
He raised an eyebrow at her next question. "Erm...not yet." He said. "I've mostly run into girls here, for some odd reason. I really haven't seen many other guys around, that aren't people I hate. And I left most of my other friends back in Michigan." He shrugged and finished off his drink.

"Oh Sad." Bella understood what it was like leaving behind frineds. Well.. Sort of. When she was little, living with Grandpa McKensie she didn't really have friends; unless Mr. Miller the man who ran the general store, counted as a friend. He did give her 3 dollars a day to sweap up the front porch in the afternoons. And there was Mrs. Walton who always had her over for lemonaide. Back when Bella was all pig tails and overals, those were friends. But they sent her away to live with her parents. None of them stuck in for her saying it was Grandpa McKensie's last dying with she stay in Oklahoma. No they moved her to Hell's Kitchen and then just to Hell. True, she'd met Charlie.. but eventually Charlie came to CHA...But what did Bella do before she followed?? Begged that her family send her away with Charlie.
Bella smiled remembering her pigtails and overalls. She looked ridiculous the first day she'd seen Charlie. "Well, I guess a guy like you has eyes only for music so, maybe that's your best friend eh?" Her straight white teeth shown through as her lips parted in a delightful grin. Her eyes looked down, they were a better glass flavour now. A happy one. It was uncanny how easily she managed to push away her problems for him.

He took another bite of his pizza, his thoughts distracting him from what was going on right now. The faces of his friends, Jacob, Sabe, and R.T. swam into his mind's eye. He hadn't really heard from the guys - OK, that was lie. He'd been chatting online via AIM with them, and apparently things hadn't changed much in Michigan. Jacob had said his parents might send him to his aunt next year for school, for much of the same reasons as Kyle got sent to New York City. Sabe and R.T. didn't have much to say on their schooling matters, not that it was like they would say anything about it. He found himself wishing that one of them would come to New York, just so that he could get back to talking with his friends...and having a detention buddy.
He gave a small laugh at her comment. "Well, it looks like it, I guess." He said. It was then he noticed, for some odd reason, how white her teeth were. He felt a bit of attraction at that one small bit float into his heart. "I've been keeping in contact with them...you know, messengers, phones, crap like that. Apparently they've been doing what I've been doing here: getting into trouble."

She was just about to open up and say something along the lines of "Trouble isn't always bad." Or something to that effect, when some horrid noise punctured her ears. Until then she'd not noticed any music going. She had been entirely too focused on her lunch..er.. date. or whatever. Her face contorted with the sound. "Have they been playing this crap the entire time??" Spinning around Bella spotted the culprit of their near torture. A juke box not far away stood baring the horrible "music."
Bella turned quickly to Kyle and smiled. "Excuse me." She stood and walked over. There was a boy standing there his fashion echoing his taste in music. His pants hung around the bottom of his back end, but thankful to his enlarged shirt it was not possible to see his undergarments. His "thuggin' " baseball hat still had the sticker on it and his choice of music was...disagreeable to say the least.
"Oh darn...I hope they have the song I want to hear. You mind??" She batted her pretty long eyelashes at the boy and smiled as he stepped aside for her. He clearly didn't like her sarcastic tone of voice as he shook his head and walked off with a nasty frown. Bella winked at Kyle and noticed the juke box was old fashioned. "Oh fine.. I'll sacrifice my poor change!" putting in a few coins she listened to them plink down in the bottom and scrolled through all the older music. Humming to herself she chose a song that had always made her happy. As she walked back toward their table, she sang along with "Close to You" by the Carpenters. She was rather glad that the pizza shop had mostly cleared out, because she was making a total ass of herself as she jokingly serenaded Kyle.

Was it just him, or was the music turning slightly....crappy? Yup, definitely crappy...now ultra crappy...then the crappiest thing he had ever heard. "Lord I hope nope, or otherwise I may have actually tolerated it." He said, wanting to shove the sound out of his ears forever. This was definitely not something he would ever download onto his iPod, let alone listen to.
He watched Bella get up and leave going toward the guy who stood near the jukebox. Obviously he was poser, or he'd be wearing something else. He had never exactly been a fan of baggy pants, but it seemed many other guys were for some odd reason.
He smirked as Bella did her thing, remembering about half an hour ago when he had slammed his fist down on the table and caused that couple to leave. He could've applauded her for getting the guy gone, which he did, in fact. He waited patiently, wondering what song she would choose, and then heard it come out. Close To You wasn't exactly one of the songs he listened to on a regular basis, but one that he would listen to every now and then. He quietly laughed as Bella started to serenade him. He joined in her singing, much to the dislike apparently of some of the waiters. Well, they had their opinions, and he really didn't give a damn about them.

A grin played across her face as she crossed to him and pulled him to his feet. Taking one hand in hers and putting one of his on her waist she laughed and kept singing. "On the day that you were born the angels got together, and decided to create dreams come true. So they sprinkled moondust in your hair and golden starlight in your eyes of blue!!!" Bella laughed and smiled up to Kyle's friendly face as they danced spiritedly around the other tables and chairs. Her jade eyes connected with his. There were so many things she could have said, but she couldn't think of any at that particular moment.

He followed easily with Bella, getting up and beginning to dance with her. He could see some of the staff's faces and hear some of the words they were using to converse with each other, but frankly, he didn't give a damn. If they wanted to leave, they could, because Bella and himself sure as hell weren't. Well, if Bella felt the same way about him as skipping class. He sang with her, knowing his voice probably sounded bad, but he didn't care. It seemed to him like anything was possible at this moment. And in a second, that feeling pushed him to kiss Bella, his lips touching hers.

Dancing with Kyle felt..limitless. For once she felt as if she were being heard not seen. Most people took one look at her and asumed she was trouble. Which most of the time they were probably right, but Bella had more to her and it was clear that Kyle saw that. Or he just had a thing for bad girls. Suddenly his lips were on hers. Axons stopped sending to dendridites and her brain messages failed to exist anymore. Her legs stopped moving with the music she'd obviously forgotten about. But one part of her was still entirely connected and responsive. Her lips pressed back timidly at first but finding they enjoyed their place on his, she closed her eyes and slowly pushed on. Her arms found solice around his shoulders. Well... that was a bit more than she expected from lunch.

Honestly, he didn't have a single clue why he had kissed Bella. Ok, so she was a cool girl, and not that bad in the looks department...no wonder he was failing. He couldn't even figure out why he had kissed her. He wrapped his arms around her, remembering that couple from earlier. Well, they had been kissing when there were a lot of people there. There was hardly anyone now, and most of the staff had to have retreated to the kitchens by now. Unless they were those perverted people that liked to watch people kissing.
No matter how much he didn't want to, he finally broke away from Bella. He didn't realize he was grinning, probably the most he had in his life. "So..." He said, a bit uncertain. "What now? We have class, like, soon. Unless you want to just skip and go tour around Brooklyn."

Her brain was returning o her now and she was conscious again of their actions. Okay, so the snogging twins were discusting, but did they really have to be so...noisy about it? Bella was sure she and Kyle were nothing close to that. When he did pull away she found her hands around his neck and her chin tilting up to get more of him. Thinking quickly she resisted. As he spoke she looked at him rationally. "Kyle...Do you honestly think I'd rather sit in a boring classroom alone and listen to monotinous teachers drone on and on about things I'll most likely never actually need to know...versus spending the day in the city with just you and me?" Bella grinned up at him. Standing on her toes she gave him one very quickly little kiss. "I'd much rather ditch the books and stay with you of course." Oh she'd lost it. She was actually...flirting? it was very unBella, but maybe Bella needed a little change. Maybe the old Bella just needed someone like Kyle to loosen up a little. She did like to have fun.

He laughed. "Excellent, that sounds much better than sleeping through one of my classes. Though I have to admit that I haven't gotten much sleep in the past two nights..." Another laugh left his lips as he momentarily withdraw his arm from around Bella and pulled out his wallet. He laid a few dollar bills on the table, hoping it'd be enough for the tab, and then pocketed the wallet and looked back at Bella, his arm back around her waist. "So, m'lady," He said, his voice taking on a grander and old voice, "where shall we go on our tour around Brooklyn? Or should we just skip out on the New York experience completely and hop a bus to New Jersey?" He raised an eyebrow, looking at the girl.

"New Jersey? Hey I'm all for NY experiances trust me, and buses are nice but, hope you don't mind my asking...What's in New Jersey?" She laughed a little and smiled up at him. "Sorry, small town girl, Not exactly from around here...well...not for that long. Besides... I haven't gotten out much. You know.. Tough girl life in Hell's Kitchen. The rat mobs kinda keep us pretty girls inside the community limits." She laughed hoping he caught her joke. Though she was sure he wouldn't. "I'm cool with what ever you want. So long as you don't drag me into some historical museum on the history of literature. Then I would most deffinatly have to kill you."

"Um...." He thought for a moment. "Clean air?" He let a small laugh escape his lips. But, it was true. New Jersey had a lot more cleaner, fresher, non-smoggy air than New York City. "Trust me, not many of us are from around here. If I was, I'd probably already have left." He laughed, catching her joke exactly the way it went. Or at least the way he thought it went. "Believe me, I'd only go to a historical museum if I wanted to torture myself before I commit suicide." He paused for a moment, thinking. There wasn't a concert going on at the moment, so that put out the stadium, and the clubs weren't usually open until nighttime..."The skate park?" He proposed. It was the only thing he could really think of at this moment.

Clean air eh?? Bella was no hippy, but she remembered what it was like in the mountains of Arkansas. Clean. Fresh. Not polluted. "Maybe we'll find one in New Jersey...I could do with a little air instead of, smoke, chemicals, and what ever other vile stench was going to seep of the city's surplus of homeless Americans." Her words sank in a little stronger as she took a little glance at the blocks own personal Tent City. And then it came to her attention that trees helped make air, and the ozone layer kept it in, which was detrimental to the success of human life. "Okay, not to make me a tree hugger or anything, but now that I think about it, this place could use a plant or two. Maybe all the environmentally friendly musicians have point...." Of course, the ever so riotous Bella now let the wheels in her head turn. "Save the music save the planet... good thing to think on." She shrugged and smiled at him rebelliously. "So hooky partner, when's the next bus come?"
